Again, since wicks are sold online, wick size is not standardized. This means "how hot will this wick be?" I burned these wicks in several different sized containers with soy wax. shape in two hours. Eventually an almost complete molten pool was formed, measuring three inches in diameter for the top diameter and four inches in diameter at the widest diameter for the container. This means the top is narrower, which allows the container to retain heat better than a straight-sided container like a bowl or jar. There are three wick lengths. 8, 6 and 4 inches. They appear to be different "sizes" meaning "warmth" but without proper labeling this is just a guess. With an 8 inch wick I was able to get a full puddle of melt in an 8 ounce 3 inch jar. With a 6 inch wick I was able to get a full puddle of melt in a 7 ounce can with a neck diameter of just under 3 inches. Both jars were hot to the touch, the flames jumped and the burn was too fast. I would say that these wicks should be checked and properly labeled by the seller. The 4 inch wick burned cooler and was the best of the three wicks for use with candles in 7 to 8 ounce containers, but the wick requires frequent trimming to avoid soot and smoke. The scent was good from my candle mixes. Another problem with some wicks, which can have some self-tapping effect, is what is known as blooming. The wick opens to reveal the various threads, which unravel and then burn and fall into the wax. It's not a full wick burn, but it's a way to trim the wick for people who don't really want to bother with the wick by trimming it. This is a constant problem with people who just let the candles burn and the wick gets very long or twists around until it turns to soot. With these wicks, the pieces get caught in the wax and it can look unsightly or dirty in an ivory-colored container candle. The flowers also make the flame short, round and black which is not as desirable as the wick which allows a nice clean calm flame to gently sway in a relaxing and inviting way. it would work better if there was some information on what type of candle they are for and what size container they are for. They are not for everyone and I would not recommend them for hobby wicking as they are too hot. 3 stars for a set of wicks. Again my advice for selling wicks is that they should all be properly labeled based on the size of the container and the type of candle they are best suited for.
