Review on πŸ“Ή Canon DC220 DVD Camcorder 35x Optical Zoom (No Longer Available) by Doug Darling

Less than good for beginners; not suitable for advanced users.

Bought for my wife who is really new and I regret my decision. It is good for a person to learn the basics of filming and still photography. Photo quality is okay in good light, otherwise expect grainy images in less than good light. I'm not joking. Individual photos need a lot of light. I thought mini DVDs would be a blessing compared to cassettes, but I thought 20 minutes was terrible. If I had done better research, I would never have bought devices with this type of media. Speaking of media. You cannot edit your DVDs with PC or MAC unless you switch to 3rd party software. The USB connection seemed unreliable at first, but after I replaced the cable I was using everything was fine. Note, however, that it only makes sense to transfer pictures from the card to the computer. Video ? Forget it. Someone complained about the mini SD card. We bought a SanDisk Mini SD 512MB from Circuit City and it works great. Why 512MB? Well, that was the only skill they had back then. Don't go cheap on eBay. the camcorder seems to be a bit picky. On the other hand, she had no problem with "other brand" DVD media. I bought a 50 disc set from the same store and they work quite well (hot DVD-R, 4x speed, 1.4 giga, 30 minutes). takes up space on the DVD. Not much, but measurable on a disc as small as this. The DVD will only be finalized when you plug in the power adapter, but this should be reported in the OSD. Yes, I had to read the manual to find out. As someone else said, if you plan on editing your movies on a computer, strive for something better.
