Mini DVD cannot be copied after recording

Great idea! Burn your memories to a mini DVD-R. Right? Well, good camera, good idea, burns to mini DVD-R, but if you're ready to copy discs, forget it! To do this you need to BUY expensive software and all the demos I've tried don't work. I've been trying to rip my mini DVD-Rs (which are written in MPEG4 (.vob) format) to full size DVDs playable on any player for over three weeks and I still can't. Also, the footage sucks. 640x480 and I can't manage to take a picture at the same time as the…

Great replacement for VHSc

Great value camcorder. MUCH easier than our VHSc camcorder that has been in our bag for 5 years and also better than the short videos we can record with our digital camera. Once you're done, you can simply "finalize" the DVD, insert it into your DVD player, and watch the movie. Blank miniDVD-Rs are inexpensive (I got 50 for $20) and are very easy to store. A small complaint. The Exit option is only available when the camcorder is connected to a power outlet. It's not a problem, but there's no…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction

  • Could have chosen a newer model

Disappointed with grainy image

After doing some research and reading reviews I bought this camcorder from BrandsMart for a good price of $278. I had to test it and decide to keep it or return it within 5 days due to their return policy and ended up sending it back. However, outdoor videos looked great even on my 50-inch plasma HDTV when filming indoors in my living room. Room quality was terrible. My old VHS camcorder worked better than this thing. Although it was night, I photographed in a fairly well artificially lit area,

Less than good for beginners; not suitable for advanced users.

Bought for my wife who is really new and I regret my decision. It is good for a person to learn the basics of filming and still photography. Photo quality is okay in good light, otherwise expect grainy images in less than good light. I'm not joking. Individual photos need a lot of light. I thought mini DVDs would be a blessing compared to cassettes, but I thought 20 minutes was terrible. If I had done better research, I would never have bought devices with this type of media. Speaking of media.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Reliability

Disappointment, disappointment - it hurts.

I've had the DC220 for a few months now and I'm disliking it, although this is partly due to disappointment with the mini DVD format. The DC220 records to mini DVD. DVD. They cannot be viewed on a DVD player or transferred to a computer until they are "finalized". Once complete, you cannot burn anything to the mini DVD. I used the DVD-Rs that came with it and ended up having to watch a few minutes of video for others to watch. Pretty wasteful. You can use DVD-RW discs which may be unfinished…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
