This device makes pleasant noises like waves, wind. tomorrow's Friday! The volume can be turned up quite high, which is good. I was able to save my dog from a nervous breakdown when the latest series of thunderstorms hit this afternoon. I usually have to turn on the fan or run the dishwasher to drown out the sound of thunder. This device worked great! I've been using it for 4 nights to drown out noise in my noisy house while trying to get a few hours of sleep. As 4 am comes early I am pleased to report that this is a very effective relaxation device and also a very effective noise masking device. Night light is also very useful. I've never tried any of these white noise generators, but I can say I'm very happy with it. Two thumbs up for a good night's sleep and a dog that didn't have a heart attack!
