SUPER efficient. My hair is thick and insanely heavy and so far I've used everything I could find in the beauty departments at Target and Walmart. (Usually thick goody or scunci scrunchies. Sooo many packs of goody and scunci.) be useless or click like I'm doing the third wrap. Also if I did anything to make my ponytail bounce, it would slip off and I would have to take it off and redo it no matter how much non-slip silicone was on it. On the other hand they are firm and secure and somehow manage to avoid tangling like other ties with loose/broken hair. Seriously, these are the best hair ties I've ever used. However, they are definitely better for long hair. I recently cut my collarbone and the tie is so thick that it now overwhelms my much shorter ponytails. If I could find a thinner version of this brand I would be more happy to buy more.
