They're not really holographic. They are more like duochromes that change color with light, but are by no means truly "holographic". First, there are a variety of shapes that you can use to apply to your nail. I like small circles because I used them to fill in big gaps on my nail for my manicure. I put in some big shapes like hearts, triangles or a moon and used small circles to fill the big empty spaces. The only problem is that my fingers are thin and therefore my nails are small. These little pieces are pretty tough. They are not flexible and do not stick to the nail. Using a star or a big heart was very difficult as the corners or edges were sticking out and I couldn't get them to lay flat to set on my gel manicure. Even when I pressed it under a lamp, it didn't stick. I could only use smaller shapes like moon, tiny triangles or circles. This is the only complaint about this item. In general, the manicure was very cute. The base color I used gave me a very natural clean look and they gave it a bit of whimsicality. I have received many compliments on my nails. I strongly recommend buying this. While there are things I won't use because they don't match my nails, I definitely got my money's worth for the manicures I did at home rather than going out and having them done.
