This is a matching lavalier microphone. The decibel reduction feature and sensitivity are a definite plus! (I bought 2 lavalier mics. Another mic without this feature doesn't do well with loud inputs.) This mic picks up my lapel voice well. I would recommend it. I would buy another. I use it to mic my piano from the inside. It's narrow enough to barely hear me speaking or singing into another mic. My cheap way to record 2 mics simultaneously but independently. It's almost perfect for that! My piano doesn't distort. This was not the case with lavalier microphones that did not have a sensitivity control. The cable is very long! Too long for my needs. But maybe I couldn't teach my laptop if it was shorter. However, cable management is a must. It comes with a small velcro strap. But maybe there should also be something inside so that the cord doesn't get tangled?
