At first I wasn't impressed with this unit. I felt the dampers were probably too stiff to be of much value. Boy was I wrong. The device significantly reduced noise when my H5 zoom was mounted on a manual grip. For example, I had to exert myself to make noise at work, which was registered. I haven't used the cold shoe that came with the device, but I appreciate the opportunity; The rest of the parts were interchangeable enough to be easily mounted directly onto a small tripod. The attachment mechanism for the 3H5 mount is flexible enough to allow you to balance the recorder for your specific use, which was also very much appreciated. I have previously used the Zoom H5 on a stationary tripod with isolating legs for the tripod base. I will be installing this damper regularly from now on to further reduce the noise transmission through the stand. Didn't appreciate durability as I've only been using it for a few days but so far it's holding up well. :-)
