All right, bye. . .

It has only been a few days. I agree with the reviews that comment on the difficulty of setting options. The manual is terrible and the buttons on the phone make no sense for operating the OSD menus. I shudder to think of having to do this again after a power outage when in fact it's required every time there is a power outage. I suppose I should be thankful that there is a manual for some of the features. It's not important to me to enter numbers in the phone book, not to dial them. The plastic of the phone is very light and when I mount the phone to the wall the corded handset doesn't sit flush with the phone but luckily it doesn't. "disconnects" on its own, and since I installed it directly above my desk, the cable can partially rest on the desk to keep the handset straight. The phone cord that came with it worked well for phones in the 1940s when people spoke in short calls; That's ridiculous for the 21st century, but maybe using a wired phone is ridiculous too? On the plus side, the number keys are large and the phone beeps softly when there are unread messages. There's a mute button so there's no need for a hold button, and the speakerphone works well. The outgoing message I recorded is much clearer on this phone than the previous phone, as are the messages left for us. The caller ID screen is large and lights up when a call comes in. The screen also lights up when the menu buttons are used - fiddling around with a flashlight in the menus would be too much. The cordless handset also has a readable caller ID screen which is useful for deciding whether to ignore calls. It's too light to hold with my chin on my shoulder, and I only use it to answer before switching to another phone for a call of any duration. We didn't try the intercom feature; it's just as easy to call a cell phone, and in this house it's probably a more reliable way of reaching someone.

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Low repairability
