I installed this film on my Polaris 08 Sportsman 800 quad to soak the thermal film in water first. I tried without it and it was almost impossible, then I soaked it in water for about 10 minutes and it was much easier to apply. I don't think soaking will harm the packaging. After it was applied and dried I applied Thermotec spray paint for a high temp finish. After the paint was dry I ran my quad for about 30 minutes and it smoked a bit for about 10 of those 30 minutes. It stinks when smoking so make sure you are well ventilated or outside. After this thing hardened, it got hard (higher), almost like plaster of paris, which was cool. I rode all day and then got off the quad and was able to touch the exhaust briefly with my bare hands without burning myself (although I don't recommend it :)). I haven't noticed any increase in performance, but that's only because I just bought an ATV and haven't had much time with it before. I bought this film to hopefully stop exhaust heat from fumes blocking the fuel pump (it turned out not to be a problem) but the film is still great for bringing down temps under the quad and I'm sure that it also increased performance.
