Lotus Teague 200 ACDC (P) Pulse!

So. I recently bought a Lotos TIG 200 AC/DC PULSE and received it within a few days. There is growing reluctance and fear that I will regret my decision to purchase this model while waiting for the welder to arrive. I didn't have enough time for this welder to give an accurate performance report, but I just wanted to get the ball rolling and get some information on the pulse model. My reluctance, an impossible regret, grew because as soon as I found out that while the Lotus name made a name for itself, this new pulse pattern didn't! There is almost no information and I want to change that. So far it looks like a quality block. I have used the TIG and Stick functions on the welder and found nothing to complain about in terms of performance, fit and finish. The ground clamp is fine, I think I'll upgrade it soon, and the stick welding tip seems to be made of fiberglass. I've found this welder to work fine with both 6011 and 7018 rods. I personally like using 6011 with AC. I can't even tell you how a European type TIG torch works because my TIG CK 17 Super Flex torch arrived the same day I received and used the welder. One complaint that many people have with the Chinese inverter welder is the odd connectors and connection points. The TIG/Argon torch input on the front of the welder has an inverted M-16 x 1.5mm connector. eBay sells a ck17f TIG torch with the correct M16 connector already swage, but you can also order a standard 3/8"-24 male torch and get an M16 adapter from 1.5mm to 3 /8-inch-24 on eBay for $20. I decided on an adapter to "permanently" connect other components to my welder. Things like this can be a little difficult to spot if you don't have a reference, and if you do, finding compatible components and accessories can be just as difficult. But once you understand this, you will also know that this is the same connection point as the Eastwood Tig 200, AHP Tig 200, etc., so many accessories for these welders are also compatible with this welder. The next annoyance was trying to find a compatible pedal that would work with that welder. Under the Revain description, you can see that the seller listed a pedal that is compatible with this impulse welder. They were listed as "Lotus FP05P". If you do a search on Revain, the welding machine pedal will be "Lotos FP05" but it is not compatible with this welding machine. Make sure there is a "P" after "05". This won't work because although it's still five pins, the pin configuration doesn't work. I went to eBay and looked up the correct part number and a completely different style came up and I ordered it. The pedal is designed to work only with this Lotos Pulse welder. It's quite disappointing that the configuration they use gives us a very, very limited choice of foot pedals. There may be others that work, but I haven't found any official list or recommendations from Lotos. Second, the user interface is very slick and user-friendly. Just instinctively start pressing the buttons on the front of the welder and you'll get it. I say this because the instruction manual leaves a lot to be desired. So it was a disorganized series of thoughts and annoyances from my experience along the way. I'm sure this won't be a problem for some people, and technically it won't. But I'm the type that usually researches endlessly before making a decision. I don't regret my decision to buy this welder. And I understand that this is a very new model, but I urge Lotos to be diligent and provide information for those who are looking. 87.5% sure this pulse model is exactly the same as the WeldPro Tig 200 AC/DC. Or made in the same factory, just with different accessories. Update: I sold my Lotos Tig 200 and bought "AHPTig201XD", AHP is a much better choice in my opinion if you can step in for the extra money. But my opinion stands. Lotos is still a good welder.

Pros
  • Welding machines and accessories
Cons
  • Cables shorter than others
