SSD 850 EVO M.2 250GB in an old laptop (850 EVO after 5 years in fantastic shape, but I want more storage) was replaced by SSD 860 EVO M.2 500GB. Which manufacturer to select was clear. I made the decision to test it on a desktop computer before installing it in a laptop. CONFIGURATION: Windows 10 Pro [build 19041]; NTFS (4 KB); win driver; Samsung SSD 860 EVO M.2 500GB; Firmware RVT24B6Q. ASRock Z490 Phantom Gaming 4, Intel i5-10400F, with 32.0 GB of RAM. SPEED: Visualized test results. Real write speed for huge files is 490 MB/s for reading, 500 MB/s for writing (up to 24 GB), and 290 MB/s for writing after 24 GB. That is, with continuous recording of big data arrays, the write speed declines from 500 to 300 MB/s after a certain threshold. TEMPERATURE: There are no SSD cooling devices, and the M.2 port is not near any heat sources. temperature outside is 21 °C. 28°C at idle, 44°C after writing 32 GB. Overall, the SSD lived up to expectations that were based on manufacturer advertising materials and unbiased reviews. I purchased it for $4430, and I'm thrilled with the outcome. The 2.5" SSD 860 EVO received a favorable rating on the website 3Dnews. Ru.
