Review on πŸ”’ Schlage B60 N 622 Matte Black Deadbolt – Keyed 1 Side, Top Residential Security by Carlos Melendez

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Good quality but poor choice for economy was made with the B60N series

This is a premium Schlage residential lock launched in 2016 or early 2017. It has several security features. was designed to prevent brute force attacks such as hammers, wrenches and "pokes" and has received a lot of good feedback on this. However, it was a major disappointment that the B60N has an aluminum alloy core and bible instead of the traditional brass core and bible. And you'll feel it as soon as you insert the key and turn it. The mechanism is rough and prone to snagging, and while I haven't done long-term testing, I don't expect the action to get any smoother over time. Also, instead of the traditional Schlage "SC" type keyway, this lock has a very open and exposed keyway. So I'm sending this lock back and using the Schlage B560 series instead. The B560 is a commercial grade lock with many of the same security features as the B60N series but has 6 pins instead of 5 and is only $15 more. You won't find the B560 at your local hardware store, but it's certainly available from many online lock stores (look for a good price).

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • I don't remember
