The quilt is thicker than expected, which is good. I sleep much better with it because it keeps my body temperature more stable over a wider range of room temperatures. It has a fairly strong lanolin odor when you first take it out of the container, but it goes away after a few days and doesn't cause any problems. I like this blanket very much and for me it was worth it. I used to have big problems with temperature control. I was either too cold or too hot, often in the same night. I don't have that problem with this blanket. I have a regular full size double bed and the duvet fits it. I think you could get along with him for a queen, but that wouldn't be enough for a king.
