I am very satisfied with this pencil set. I wanted a small set to pop into my plein air paint kit to sketch before painting. I like to use watercolor pencils because they blend into the art and don't show up in the finished painting. It's small, light and easy to pack. Lightfastness is also very important to me and this product has an excellent lightfastness rating. The color becomes even and lasting and stays bright. It dissolves with a touch of water and I have no problem with smudges or lines not dissolving. The colors blend easily and I had no issues with graininess. I know this brand is expensive but it's worth it. They are also great for coloring, the even application of color and blending is excellent. Because they dissolve in a small amount of water, it's not difficult to use them in coloring books with nice heavy paper. Just work in small sections at a time and let dry frequently. This will help prevent excessive paper curl. One last note: they are not as transparent as pan watercolors.
