These bulbs illuminate the entire ceiling so you don't cast a shadow on what you're looking at. Perfect for an antique Victorian pendant light with two bulbs pointing downwards. It was amazing. Now, with the addition of a remote-controlled outlet, I don't have to reach up to unscrew a lightbulb or pull on a dangling chain to smack myself in the face. Finally I can SEE in my office/dressing room and in the library with the same light hanging over the table. Plus - it doesn't blind from anywhere when looking at them.
