I received them to hang a pine garland around the front door. For me they didn't go into a real brick (the metal pins just bent and broke instead of going into the brick), but they did go in and stayed in the mortar between the bricks. It turned out very well to hang a rather heavy (living) garland of fir branches. Probably also suitable for Christmas lights or patio lights. Overall, I'm glad I found this and was able to put it in the mortar.
