Review on 🌐 Vertiv Cybex Secure 4K HDMI KVM Switch - 4-Port EAL4+ NIAP TAA Compliant (SC840H-001) by David Pirlet

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Overkill for most, but an absolute beast for those who demand the best

KVM switches are great for data centers, repair shops, or anywhere there are more computers than monitors/input devices. They're usually a lot cheaper than this one, but it's not your typical KVM. First, it's a brown business box with no marketing fluff. People buy them because they're working with an experienced seller or doing their own research (if you're Revain, you'll end up with the latter). Inside is a no less serious contraption. The relatively compact device manages without any optical frills and is of high quality. As with any KVM, you have a set of X+1 ports, in this case 4 inputs plus 1 output (well, keyboard and mouse are inputs). The difference here is that not only are they protected to NSA standards, but they are also designed for the highest graphics performance, so you can use high-end devices in such cases or be prepared for the future. Typical data center or workshop scenarios don't typically require 4k displays, but a high-end workstation configuration (perhaps with multiple units that need time to render or perform other tasks) can definitely leverage that capacity. Whatever your requirements, the signal is crisp, clear and free from any artifacts. The available hardware switches are a blessing compared to the low-end switches that require weird hotkey customization. This is for you? Well I think if you buy a $600 KVM your needs will far exceed the $30-$80 units you can find elsewhere, or even high-end $100-$200 units . Just know that many users would be just as happy to spend 10-20% of the cost on it. This is a serious device for advanced users. In this context, as in any other, he delivers. I'd love to add IP KVM capabilities via an unused Ethernet port (currently "for future use"), but it's still a great tool for those who have thousands invested in systems and have priceless data.
