Like many of you, I have been following Kelly's nutritional advice for years and I look forward to the release of this product. After trying both chocolate and vanilla I felt compelled to give a review. I'm leaving both a short and long review because some people browse and some people want context. TL; DR: Buy chocolate and skip vanilla and plain flavors. Follow the Fab 4 smoothie protocol with Vitamix and you shouldn't have any blending problems. Get creative by fishing the spoon out of the pouch and maybe have a spare powder container in case the pouch doesn't close properly. Contextual Review A few things about my preferences: 1. I follow the Fab 4 smoothie protocol and use Vitamix to blend my smoothies2. I am not a sweet tooth. I prefer vanilla protein powder over chocolate, both for the flavor and because it doesn't overwhelm other smoothie ingredients3. I would be vegan if my body could give up meat because I hate the taste4. I've used chocolate beef isolate protein powder in the past and I've liked it5. I appreciate grass-fed and pasture-raised meat and wouldn't hesitate to spend more on it6. I hate bulky protein packaging. Now my thoughts: 1. I appreciate the efforts made to minimize packaging waste, but I have trouble resealing a bag of chocolate because the powder solidifies in the resealable package. Also, I haven't found a scoop for this bag yet. I found it easier to find the scoop in the vanilla sachet, but it took some ingenuity to move it up without sticking my whole hand inside. (Tip: Squeeze the outside of the bag until you find something solid, then gradually squeeze underneath to move it up and down.) 2. Although the powder makes a lighter, frothy mixture, I didn't have the issues that others had. My Vitamix works great. (Maybe it's because I'm following the Fab 4 smoothie protocol to even out the foam?) 3. Taste-wise, I'm diverging on individual flavors here. While it can be sweeter (and almost eliminates the need for adding 1/4 cup of fruit), I found the chocolate flavor more appealing because it masks the flavor of the beef. I find the beef flavor and vanilla aftertaste to be overpowering and unpleasant. In order not to lose product, I start mixing them together to minimize flavor. However, that now means every smoothie will be a chocolate smoothie, which for me is a mental and flavor correction. (I originally planned to buy an unflavored powder too, but that's not going to happen now.) 4. I think overall this is a quality product (find the ingredients, no hexane) and I think the price is justified. Just stick to one flavor. Chocolate.
