Mollie straps are supposed to work like this: The loops alternate 1" webbing and 1" spacing, so line up the webbing to 1 piece apart the other and lead the belt or stick. through the entire webbing resulting in a very strong attachment. You can skip the straps down the middle, but there must be an odd number of inches between the straps to ensure proper alignment. In this case, the straps are 2 inches apart so you can't line up the straps properly. As the straps are velcro I managed to loosen them enough for them to work but this is a weak fastener and has snagged a few times already.
