Review on ๐Ÿชง Softy Hangman: Heavy-Duty Frame Hanger, Minimal Wall Damage Solution by Jennifer Roberts

Works well and looks good - requires a bit of skill

This product requires basic skill and the use of some tools if it is to be done properly. The level provided is of little use. I suggest substituting at least a 3ft level and if the painting or mirror you are hanging is large you may need a 4ft level. A drill is required to make the pilot holes and, as I did, to make more screw holes to increase the load capacity. I used both 5 inch picture hangers to mount a very large piece of art in a massive heavy frame. Due to the added weight, I drilled additional holes for more screws than were intended, in both the frame-mounted aluminum channels (which resemble long horizontal hooks) and the wall-mounted channel members (for attaching "hangers") . ) . ), taking care to drive a screw into the post for each wall channel. For the rest I used very heavy duty cavity wall mounts. I used screws that were longer and larger than the ones that came with the kit to get a good grip on the frame and also to secure the screws to the wall. This required careful drilling and placement of the aluminum brackets attached to the frame to hold them in place as well. I stuck to the old adage, "Measure seven times and cut once (drilled in this case)." The above resulted in a durable, reliable, and aesthetically pleasing result; much better than what could be achieved with a wire suspension system and certainly much stronger. I recommend this hanging system and would buy it again if needed for a similar or other suitable application.

Pros
  • Safety
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
