I was concerned at first as this was a refurbished device but when I opened it up it was certified refurbished by Linksys itself. I understand why everyone has negative reviews. You need to set this in range from previous node or main node within 3-4 range of WiFi signal. It only takes a few minutes to set up, but I'll remember this configuration even if it shuts down or loses power. I've only had one case where it wouldn't turn on in the morning after the update. But manually restarting the device fixed the issue and I haven't had any issues since. Devices seamlessly switch nodes as they move around the house to increase range, and speeds are as fast as the main node (slightly slower, of course, but again, that's to be expected from a mesh system). The only downside (like all mesh systems) is that if you want to communicate directly with other devices on other nodes, you can only do so if you're connected to the node they're on. So if you frequently connect to other devices etc.
