Review on πŸŽ’ Waterfly Backpack Crossbody Daypack Rucksack: Versatile and Durable Multi-Purpose Bag by Matt Larsen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Decent bag - read the update!

**UPDATE** I've been using this bag almost every day for over 7 months now. It has held up BEAUTIFULLY during a trip to Disneyland as a mini park bag, as a Sherpa bag for my daughter's triathlon, and in daily use for storing my purse and allergy kit. Nothing broke, the flash moves smoothly. The only downside I found is that the shoulder strap loosens as expected and I have to adjust it several times a week. I am very happy with this purchase and have changed my rating from the original 3 stars to 5. For the price you can't go wrong! Having ordered the Waterfly and Meru bags (as I'm undecided) and having used both for the day, I'm ready to review first use of the Waterfly. Upon arrival I was delighted with the size, shape and padding on the back. I feel like it's a bit more stylish than Meru, it doesn't "dangle" from the back and I like its color. While much stiffer (different materials due to impregnation, pocket shape, etc.) than Meru, hopefully it will loosen up a bit after a few uses. The number of pockets and their size are amazing, although this one is a little smaller than another one I've bought. As a mother of a child with allergies, we need to be able to accommodate our epi-pens and medication, as well as other maternal essentials, snacks, etc. And I like having different pockets for all my stuff. My large purse also fits in it. We were out in the rain yesterday and the contents of the bag were mostly dry. Meru would have been filled with water. Now for the cons. The material inside the bag is hard nylon - water repellent I'm sure - so opening the bag in a quiet environment is difficult - I won't take it "quietly" anywhere. The zippers are also quite stiff, don't open and close very smoothly, and will snag on the inner nylon if you're not careful. It would be a plus to rethink the stitching on the inside so there is less bulk around the zipper. They also don't appear to be sturdy/reliable zippers. Meru zippers are smoother, larger, easy to open and designed for heavy loads. While not a determining factor, I will be cautious with this bag. The clip on the shoulder strap is plastic, not what I would choose. It's hard to "click" and I foresee pinched fingers or a broken clip in the future - I could be wrong but that's my impression after 24 hours of use. For this reason, I won't use a clip often, instead wearing a strap over my head. Conclusion - a great, stylish bag. For this money it is worth it. To be honest I expect to use it more than Meru as we are an athletic family and always on the go. This bag is easier to clean, has more practical pockets, its contents stay dry and its size is more comfortable on the back due to its small size. Meru's pockets are larger, making it easier to get items in and out. The material and the equipment are not perfect, but there are small flaws that I can accept. As long as this bag endures more use I think it will be a great addition to my everyday wallets (plus it's more back, shoulder and neck friendly and I appreciate that when I have a neck injury) and will be fantastic for travel. If the price had been higher I would have sent them back but overall the price suits the bag and I think it's a worthwhile purchase. With hardware changes I would easily rate this at 4.5-5 stars.
