Although I hesitated to buy a 3DS for many years, it has quickly become my favorite gaming console (not just among PDAs!). There is no problem registering a US debit card for use in a Japanese online store (***Please note that if you wish to use Nintendo prepaid cards, they will only work with a 3DS system from the same region !***) for use in a Japanese online store and the Internet The store itself offers a wide range of games. Combined with the special offers that are often offered, this becomes a very convenient way to play many different games without having to pay to import overpriced physical copies. While digital downloads used to be tied to the device itself, they are now tied to your NNID, making it much easier to retrieve your downloads if your device breaks or is stolen. The account system is still not as user-friendly as PSN, Steam, etc., but it's an improvement. The only language offered is Japanese. So if you don't understand them, you may need to find a guide to help you with the initial setup. , including parental control settings that may temporarily prevent the use of the online store and the Internet. As stated in the description, it only plays Japan games and does not come with a charger. The North American charger works well with it, although I can't speak for Europe or elsewhere. In terms of backwards compatibility, since regular DS games are not region-locked, they will work on any region's 3DS. The exception is some enhanced DSi/DSi games released with region locks. I was concerned about my small hands, but I found the LL system to be much more comfortable than the original. Rounded edges ensure sharp corners don't dig into your palms, and the stylus has been moved to the right side of the device for added comfort. when you use the pen with your right hand! The large screen really helps immersion in the game, and the hinges have three positions that they click into to hold the top half of the shell. I don't play regularly with 3D enabled, but I use it once for all the new games I get just to see how it looks. It can be a bit tricky to tilt it properly to maintain the perfect viewing position while gaming, but not being a fan of 3D myself I can't say more about that. The touchscreen feels very scratchy. Durable - more than 210 hours of intensive use of the stylus in Theatrhythm Curtain Call and not a single scratch on it. However, I've noticed that dust and dirt tend to get stuck around the edges of the touchscreen, so I wipe it down regularly with a microfiber cloth. LL also seems to have fixed the original 3DS's issue where the touchscreen bezel would get imprinted on the top screen when closed with a light squeeze. For me, the only real downside to the device itself is that the colored part of the case, while nice, scratches fairly easily. There are plenty of protective cases on Revain if you're particularly interested in such things. Another thing to note is that the volume itself isn't very loud, even when pushed to the maximum. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the 3DS LL and its game selection. I think this is a great addition to your gaming collection if you speak Japanese and would like to play games in the original language or enjoy regional exclusives. I would like to add that the new 3DS is coming to Japan soon. So if you are already thinking of buying an imported model, you should compare them and see if the newer model suits your needs!
