The software can be downloaded free of charge from the website indicated on the back of the box. I tested this cable on ti83 and ti83 plus. Both work fine. ti83 is not compatible with many apps like the notefolio app i use for note taking but works fine with ti83 plus. The cable serves its purpose. I would like to say to those who have not yet bought a ti calculator, do not buy anything below the ti84 plus. They use a mini USB cable, which is easier to find everywhere and very cheap. Most of us may even have it at home somewhere. I find it has more storage and better compatibility with apps too. It's worth it and costs about the same considering the cost of this cable with the ti83 plus.
