Gemstones Soap Making Kit: Ultimate DIY Craft Project and STEM Science Experiment for Kids Ages 8 and Up Review

Very fun, I bought this as a gift for a friend and we both had a blast making soap despite being students. We thought up and bought other forms and aromatic oils of the dollar tree to use. Now we keep them as a decoration in the bathroom. So much fun!

The project says it's for ages 8+, but I think it will work for younger kids with lots of parental controls too. I love DIY art projects and sometimes it's easier to buy a set than to try to figure things out yourself. Would buy again as a gift in the future - as a former teacher I love making gifts that are both fun and educational.

Colors do not match the product packaging. The soap base is easy to cut. It's hard not to cook and froth before it all melts. It's a little tricky if you've never done melt and cast casting before. The molds are very thin and cannot withstand heavy use. The product was ok but way overpriced for what you got. It is better to buy materials at a craft store, and not in a kit. My kids are eight and six years old and I did most of the work because I was afraid they would burn themselves on the soap.

This soap making kit was a huge disappointment for my 5 and 7 year olds. There was not enough soap base to make 2 soaps of each of the 6 colors included and only 5 small pieces of glycerine soap base were included in the kit. In general, the dyes themselves were disappointingly ugly, especially the pink (more like orange) and blue (greenish?). The scent contained was nothing like lavender. Instructions were easy to follow and my 7 year old was able to stir the soap and add drops of color and glitter. The glitter was wrapped in something that spills easily. Too bad it's not in a resealable hard plastic cylinder. However, adult help is required to read the instructions and use the hob. It includes stovetop and microwave instructions. Also, the entire top portion came off the yellow coloring causing too much spillage on the soap cake. However, this can be avoided if you are careful…

My 9 year old and I made these yesterday and they look great (they really work and smell great!). She wrote a note and put each one in a gift bag and we went around the neighborhood to deliver them to our neighbors to "stay sane" and "to show we care."
