Instructions were easy to follow and my 7 year old was able to stir the soap and add drops of color and glitter. The glitter was wrapped in something that spills easily. Too bad it's not in a resealable hard plastic cylinder. However, adult help is required to read the instructions and use the hob. It includes stovetop and microwave instructions. Also, the entire top portion came off the yellow coloring causing too much spillage on the soap cake. However, this can be avoided if you are careful when opening it. However, I strongly recommend it, even with these caveats.
