I put them in the corner of the cage or under their skin to soak up urine while they sleep so I can clean and replace them daily. . Then I only have to change the underlay once a week (the pee pads on the underside get places where they don't sit). I was shocked that they work so well. They do well in the washing machine, but I wouldn't wash them any harder than a normal cycle because they will likely start to fall apart. The seals are amazing, but for some reason the monkey is in trouble. The plastic backing must have been slightly glued (like a gasket) but the washing stripped it off. However, it still works great. I wouldn't tumble dry them, even on low heat. Air dry only. They are incredibly easy to clean by hand. Everything just washes away. I use a soft cleaning brush or my hand and just wash it under warm soapy water and I don't have to wash it at all. They need to be washed or rinsed depending on how much you have. There are only two girls in my cage and I have to wash them every 3-5 days. I have to wash the cage with mother and cubs every 1-2 days. As long as my piglets don't move them from where I plant them, they're great and so far completely dense. There were 5 babies in my rescue so this was a lifesaver because they suck it all up in a day or so. I'll add photos later when I remember.
