The Orei DA21 is a great device for modern flat screen TV owners who want the best sound. Reason: screen manufacturers (especially Samsung) deliver too little sound. Output options to push audio away from their terrible speakers. A particularly bad option: a stereo mini-plug for either the headphone output or a flat "line out" signal. The stereo mini is notoriously unreliable and noisy on high-voltage devices like flat-panel displays - you often have to unplug it to get rid of static or hum, and the analog cable picks up noise from everything nearby, including the screen itself. Most of however, they offer an optical output option and this unit takes advantage of that in a cost-effective manner, allowing you to easily route audio to a dedicated sound system. This eliminates at least one noisy analog link in your audio chain. Here is my setup. Not too fancy (so I'm happy to find such an affordable product): - Samsung 40" LED flat screen - Grace Digital GDI-BTAR513 100W digital integrated stereo amplifier with built-in AptX Bluetooth stereo wireless receiver - 2 Clips G-12 Flat Panel Speakers (1) (bought used from Revain - amazing deal, like new!) - BT-1000 Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones Wireless and Wired Headset Stereo Built-in Mic for hands-free calls (black) - Miccus Home RTX: long range , Bluetooth music transmitter or receiver (A2DP) ) (to send audio to Bluetooth headphones) and of course DVD, DirecTV, etc. as sources I use an optical cable (included) from the Samsung flat screen to the Orei device, then regular RCA analog cables to the Grace Digital amp that powers the Klipsch speakers, and at the same time I have an analog cable from the Orei headphone output to the Miccus Bluetooth transmitter (Again, Never seem to (The voltage headphone output devices like the Orei don't have a noise problem, but high voltage devices like a flat panel display - ground or something I guess.) As promised in the product description, audio is carried simultaneously from the Orei RCA jack outputs and the stereo mini output. This means I can turn the volume on the Grace Digital amp/Klipsch speakers down and my headphones on high at the same time. When I take off my headphones (e.g. to answer a call) I don't lose the sound completely. I haven't tried the coaxial audio output on this device, but it's a great option for silent audio playback. into a higher quality home theater audio amplifier. I love getting products that actually work as described, especially at these prices.
