Basic HD Home Audio Equipment

The Orei DA21 is a great device for modern flat screen TV owners who want the best sound. Reason: screen manufacturers (especially Samsung) deliver too little sound. Output options to push audio away from their terrible speakers. A particularly bad option: a stereo mini-plug for either the headphone output or a flat "line out" signal. The stereo mini is notoriously unreliable and noisy on high-voltage devices like flat-panel displays - you often have to unplug it to get rid of static or hum…

Pros
  • TROUBLESHOOTING - If you hear clicking noises - Most likely your TV's output is not set to PCM. Please change it to PCM. Or if you're getting squeaks or no sound, you're probably trying to decode Dolby audio to analog. You'll need a DA34 or DA34X

An ideal solution at a very competitive price

I have a hearing impairment, so I'm looking for ways to maximize the audio fidelity of my headphones. I mostly listen to Apple Music on my computer. I recently discovered a little-known fact that iMacs come with digital audio outs (plugging a 3.5mm optical cable into the headphone jack allows the iMac to automatically detect that it's an optical connection and not a a wired electrical connection). The reason for this approach is that it allows me to take advantage of raw audio and use a DAC…

works! We recently bought a Samsung Blu-Ray player as a gift for my brother-in-law and his lover. Their flat screen had mediocre built-in speakers, and their old receiver didn't have HDMI inputs, only analog stereo RCA audio inputs. I bought this unit AND ALSO this C2G/Cables To Go 29115 Velocity S/PDIF Digital Audio Coax Cable (6ft). When we plugged it in, it worked straight away. Movie audio sounds good and clear. The sound is in sync with the picture. Now they have real bass and power in…
