I have never bought other brands of ink cartridges as I do all my prints with a monochrome laser. I have used my Brother machine as a compact scanner and (sometimes) for faxing. Although only a test sheet was printed when the printer was installed, the original ink dried up (probably due to inkjet cleaning) and all other non-ink-requiring functions were also discontinued. So, to get my scanner back, I needed some ink. Brother ink costs about the same as the entire machine, so I looked up "compatible" inks. That being said, I've seen many horror stories about non-genuine cartridges being rejected by the printer, or the need for workarounds such as changing them by denying the presence of new cartridges. Well, they worked just like the originals. Detours are not necessary. Being XL cartridges I hope each set will last at least a few months as the only thing they bring is the amount of ink used to clean the nozzles. They are fantastic, were delivered quickly and fully meet my expectations.
