The audio input connector on the back of the docking station is not fixed to the body, and the connection to the small circuit board is very weak, resulting in poor contact. If you are not very careful when inserting the mini audio jack, the input jack will be removed from its loose connection to the board. This has happened to both SXHD1 docks I've ordered (including the one I received today). The first lost signal on one side, there was a hum, then detached from the board when I unplugged and plugged it back in. The one I got today didn't go through one side of the stereo and fell apart when I unplugged it and plugged it back in to make sure both channels were connected. The original dock that came with the Xpress RCi lost signal in one direction after about a year. Yes, I replaced the stereo mini cables with two RCA connectors and used two different diagnostic receivers. A very crappy product.
