I bought it for off-road cycling. I don't want to break my neck. I was concerned that I should have bought one of the more expensive adjustable braces that look more like Hans' device. Although this brace isn't adjustable, it seems to work great. You can see how well this works by wearing both the brace and helmet and trying to turn your head back and forth and back and forth. You can still move your head, but you can easily see that this prevents excessive movement. I'm 5'11" and 205 pounds. The brace fits perfectly and I don't really notice it moving. Currently I don't have to upgrade to an updated brace.
