I purchased the VA247HE and although it was advertised as an IPS display the actual panel type is a VA panel as listed on the ASUS website. Apart from that, however, it's still a very good monitor with vivid colors. Black is boring at best in Standard mode, and you pretty much have to use the Landscape preset to get black to a good level. Another thing I've experienced with this monitor is ghosting. It's easy to ignore if you're not looking for it, but it's enough to bother me to the point that I'll return it and find a REAL IPS monitor. If you're not as bothered by black levels and ghosting as I am, then this is definitely a good choice for a monitor.
