Made the fan very noisy

I tried this on a cheap window fan and the fan motor was making a loud, annoying noise. A brushless motor may have been used, which is not recommended for use with. It would be nice if it worked with all motors then I wouldn't have to try to figure out if my fan is brushless or not.
