Update: Used daily for many months and today there was some magic smoke coming out of the power supply. Upon inspection, it turned out that the power transformer inside was dusty on the 26V side. The iron does not heat up now. I ordered a replacement as it remains a universally reliable station to this day. I wish I could just buy a new transformer, but I can't find one that isn't overpriced and doesn't require a month or shipping. Spring. Original Review: I've soldered a lot, mostly through a hole, but have occasionally reworked SMD and done very small things, but I've always been too frugal to spend over $20 on an iron that can work well for about a month or so . , but can't reach the temperature needed to rework boards made with high temp/lead free solders without some serious tweaking and time investment, but it just works out of the box and works well. The iron is a good weight and not bulky like a lot of the Weller stuff I've bought and thrown in the trash because they just suck for small circuit board work. The control box power supply is very well built, very durable. Temperatures are accurate. They definitely didn't skimp on the materials used. Overall very satisfied as long as it stays that solid
