therefore I am very knowledgeable about the electrical system in my house

It is fitted with spring contacts which need to be mated to the electrical contacts on the side of the socket. When installed correctly, however, the pins protrude well beyond the standard overhangs of the socket. I built my own house, including the wiring, so I'm very familiar with the electrical system in my house. After trying this product out on my standard 20 amp outlets, I took this to Home Depot to test at the various outlets that sell them. The contact protrusions on the cover are too long for all sockets, so when installed correctly, the contacts on the cover will extend far beyond the contacts on the sockets, rendering the night light unusable. I even tried bending and reshaping the tabs to make them fit. , but they were too stiff and broke before bending. I bought two of these. Neither the ones with bent and broken tabs nor the unmodified ones work, so they're just expensive outlet covers with blown bulbs. When I pulled the cover out to make electrical contact, the bulbs lit up but were very dim. even for a night light. They gave enough light to be seen but not enough to illuminate the floor, for example for safe toileting at midnight. Great concept, bad technology.
