Controlled pouring - ease of use

Update 30/10/2019 - Purchased 26/01/2016 Used for almost 4 years, daily use, usually several times a day. Still working, no other complaints or problems. Quick Review: Great value for coffee, no plastic in boiling water. Obtain! Detailed review: I use this kettle every morning for coffee and several times a day for tea. I used to put a kettle on the stove, pour water in, turn on the stove and wait forever for it to boil. I inevitably got tired of standing there waiting for it to cook and I left. Then I kept forgetting that water was boiling on the stove until I heard the unmistakable sound of water splashing across a hot stovetop. Sometimes I was in the middle of something and couldn't save the kettle for a few minutes, causing a large amount of water to disappear. The automatic switch-off function is very useful. I like being able to boil water and then walk away to take a shower or whatever without any repercussions if I forget the water I just poured. The gooseneck is great as it controls the amount of water that comes out, which is very important if you want to be precise with your coffee. A full pot boils in less than 5 minutes. I've used many different kettles, most of which have some sort of plastic in contact with the water. I like the fact that even when the kettle is full the water only comes into contact with the stainless steel. I've used it multiple times every day for a month with no real problems or complaints. I highly recommend this kettle. Some things I noticed. 1) After boiling water, a puddle will definitely remain on the bottom. This is because steam forms condensate in the dome and travels through the handle through two small holes in the bottom to the base. It doesn't matter much. I saw other reviews complaining about this. I've never had a puddle big enough to run off the base during one cycle. Seriously, after you've boiled the water, grab a towel and dry it off, or leave it alone. It doesn't bother me at all, maybe it bothers you. 2) Scale - I have pretty hard water, one of the downsides is you're pumping water right out of the ground with just a sediment filter. I've never used a pot of water that didn't have a buildup on the bottom. If you use a pot or kettle, they'll do the same if you never wash them. Scale doesn't bother me either, although if left on long enough it can degrade or even kill the kettle's performance. Once a month I boil water with vinegar. I don't measure, I just water a little. At the end of the cycle, the bottom of the kettle is cleaned of vinegar. No problem. 3) rust. My kettle has no rust at all. I can only guess that those that develop rust must have high levels of iron in the water. I use mine a few times each day so it gets a little wet but still doesn't rust. 4) Size - The kettle is advertised as a 1.0 liter kettle. If it's not enough for you, don't buy it. There's no reason to give a bad review and claim it's too small just because you have no idea what a 1.0-litre model looks like. You have space problems, this is normal. Take a 2 liter bottle of soda, empty it halfway, now you have 1.0 liter. If that's not enough, buy a larger kettle. Problem solved.
