Works like a champ - just replace the old display

This was the right replacement for my daughter's Toshiba Satellite C75D display. It was very easy to replace. You will need a very small Phillips screwdriver. That's all. The magnetic tip option is best as removing and inserting the screws is difficult. Disconnect the laptop from the network. Remove the battery. We don't want surprises. You need to unscrew the two screws (hidden by plastic circles in each bottom corner of the display). Then carefully remove the plastic cover by prying it off (a credit card will do). Be careful when removing the hinge covers. There are two screws in the top corners that need to be removed, after which the display will detach itself from the laptop's plastic cover. The display is now held in an aluminum frame, hinged to the bottom of the laptop. There are three screws on each side of this snap frame. Remove these 6 screws. I removed the 6 screws on the bottom of the hinge (3 in each corner) to completely detach the hinge assembly. I don't know if it was really necessary. If you can access the ribbon connector without removing it, all the better. After that, they are a bit difficult to align, but not too difficult. Now carefully detach the ribbon connector by gently pulling down towards the bottom of the display. Careful. This needs to be secured with clear tape and the tape connector itself has an adhesive backing. They must be loosened before the ribbon connector can move. It doesn't take much effort to solve it. At this point, remove the old display and insert the new one. Probably, it's best to install at least one screw on each side to secure the display to the hinge assembly before attempting to connect the ribbon connector. Once the ribbon connector is in place, replace the screws on the other side (3 on each side, 6 total). Before attempting to reattach the covers, plug in the power cord and test the display to make sure it works. Turn on the laptop and when you see the Toshiba logo, turn it off again. What a beautiful sight. Now tighten the 6 screws in the hinge assembly, 3 in each corner. Be sure to leave the wireless antenna in place when attaching the back cover. It will probably come off. The plastic shroud will not snap back into place if not attached. So wireless isn't really wireless - it's a wire antenna. Ha ha. Wired antenna? I don't know, ask the people at Toshiba. Here's my sense of humor. You can now replace the plastic cover. The hinge covers snap into place. Be sure to cover the wires on each loop. We don't want them to be crushed or exposed. The plastic case has small tabs on the edges. Just press them firmly into place (being careful not to put pressure on the display surface). Finally replace the two corner screws and the two small plastic screw covers and you are done. It takes less than 30 minutes.
