Review on ZOMEI Aluminum Portable Tripod: Professional Compact Travel for Nikon Canon Sony DSLR Cameras by Justin Reese

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It was powerful enough to use the Caliber to photograph a solar eclipse.

I bought this tripod to fly. It's compact, relatively light and stable like the heavier tripods I have. It is valued at 20 odd pounds. I have a Sony a57 and a77 with some old Minolta lenses. Of course, the lenses I have are heavy compared to new lenses. Total weight from online specs is around 4 pounds for the heaviest. With the camera on the latch as tight as I could, the camera still rotated and wobbled in portrait mode. This may have something to do with the weight distribution of the lens, this happened with another tripod I used. However, it was powerful enough to photograph the eclipse with a shorter focal length lens. If you're not using old heavy glass, this might work. Shortly after writing this review, I was contacted by customer support to resolve my issues.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Discontinued model
