Not practical when soldering as the face must be close to the subject

This product was designed to require the object to be magnified and in focus to be at least 1.5 feet from the viewer's face. Not 4-5 inches. My eyesight is not as good as it used to be so I bought this product to use when soldering PCB components. However, at 1x magnification I need to keep the subject 6-8 inches from my face, while at 2.5x magnification I need to keep the subject 4-5 inches away to be sharp. This might be good for examining an object, but it's not a comfortable distance for me to put my face in front of a hot soldering iron that can splatter lead and fumes near my eyes.
