Fiberglass Kite

I bought these kits to do a project with my kids. I made a kite before doing this with kids and I noticed that coloring the kite made my hands feel like we were being stung. I ignored this until the moment I had to reassemble the kite and I got shards of small shards of thin glass on my fingertips. I'm not sure if this is normal but my finger hurts and I don't recommend it for children.
