I have an older (when it was analog) "flying saucer" RCA TV antenna to which I have added a digital TV 45db "mast amplifier". On the way to my town "Antenna Farm" I found 3 cell towers; one of them is less than 3 miles away. I also have an "amateur VHF transmitter" that has a low power setting (+/- 5 watts). And 15-watt ERP "High Powerβ mode. There is a similar rack mount version of the same setup in 75 ohms, 5, 10 and 150 watts, with a different 5/8 wave Ramsey antenna. It was a low attitude. is an experiment with Blonder-Tonge ZFMSM CATV FM modulators (yes, that's 75 ohms). Both the 75 ohm dipole I built using RG-8 cable and the 5/8 wave Ramsey antennas are within 5 meters of the saucer TV antenna. This saucer has a 12dB Radio Shack (RS) FM filter, but I wanted a bit more; just overdo it. So I removed the plugs. Solder some "F" connectors and place the small circuit board in the Altoids sealed metal case. Then place this Distill "SDR" FM filter in between this RS FM filter. Hoping that the Distill's mismatched 50 ohm impedance will be balanced by the next stage; Antra ATF-600 4 & 5G LTE MATV Cellphone Filter (avoiding adding a 25ohm resistive load). The MATV mast amplifier has 3/4 gain (33.75 dB) and the FM transmitter audio chain includes a 15-band Behringer dual EQ. Behringer SX3040 or Aphex 104 Aural Enhancer. and finally the amazing Behringer DEQ-2496 that feeds both modulators. While FM mods have audio cutoffs below 40k and above 15k, the DEQ-2496 is my final limiter/equalizer/expander and audio bandwidth filter. When I listen to or watch web radio or video streams, the audio is additionally processed "FM DSP"; with an old i7 4-core "lappy". Either with the Winamp/Stereo Tool or with an EMU USB audio device and a standalone version of the Stereo Tool. Oh yes, by the way. Both the 75 ohm dipole and 5/8 wave antennas have Ramsey FMLP1 FM bandpass filters. Plus a specific FM channel pass-through I built for an empty FM channel in my area that I "borrow" (bandpass filters I can't afford). The sound is as good and even better than some public and commercial FM stations and as you can see I take RF filtering and audio filtering very seriously. I have an old, not recently calibrated RF spectrum analyzer, but I borrowed an FM deviation analyzer and other FM measurement tools from it. local radio technician. Did some tests and you know what?. My "amateur VHF transmitter" does not clip; drifting and pretty much "legally signaled", even just as legal. . Heck, my sidebands don't interfere with near or far FM channels. Measurements or listening near my VHF antennas. High pass filtering is tricky business and I'm very glad this Distill FM filter worked as well as I expected. My SDR"Reflections". Also use this filter with great results.
