I'm a little taller than average and a fat girl with a round butt. I usually wear XL stretch pants so I just took them and ordered XL for these shorts. They sit "just right" and conform to the figure, but not tight at all. They feel/look like cotton and are very soft with little stretch. I just wanted some in the house and they are great. You will see in my photo that these shorts are longer in the front, which isn't necessarily a bad thing for overweight women or those who want to look high waisted. If you're looking for a roomier and looser look, then by all means go one size up.
