
I am using this mini DVR to record video from an old analogue camera. When I connect both ends of 3.5mm there is no picture. If I pull the cable out a bit, the best picture quality I can get is the attached black and white image {Figure 1}. After some searching on the web I was able to find instructions that state the following (no soldering): You will need: (one) AV-MALE 3.5mm three-pin AV cable (red, yellow, white with pins) (one) three-pin -AV cable 3.5mm AV SOCKET (red, yellow, white with hole). All you have to do is swap the red wire and yellow wire when you connect them together {Figure 2} [If you solder the wires together, swap the red and ground wires.] After swapping the wires, I got the resulting picture quality {Figure 3} For some reason the manufacturer reversed the wires on the input connector of the mini DVR. I would like to know before I buy this device. Otherwise, the device works perfectly and fulfills its functions.
