I have a full size SLR - when I have a 600mm lens on it's heavy. I attached it to the lens ring mount to carry the camera and lens. You can also place a camera underneath, attach all kinds of accessories to it, use it with camera cages, as a gimbal grip and more. This is a really versatile pen. The handle itself is round with a thick ribbed rubber coating. It has a 1/4-20" threaded post on one end and a 1/4-20" threaded hole on the other. There are a total of four 1/4-20" threaded holes, one 3/8-24" hole and a slot for a magnetic mount. Then there are three rail mounts for the cold shoe. Necessary!
