Review on Premium Canon PowerShot ELPH135 Digital Camera - Capturing Brilliant Moments in Black by Tutcht Cobb

Revainrating 2 out of 5

I bought one of these for my mom and was very happy with the photos she took unnecessarily.

I needed a point and shoot camera that took pretty decent photos in AUTO mode - something I could take on a hike without having to learn settings etc. I have one of these for my mom and she get very happy with the photos she took without having to learn anything other than aim, wait for auto focus and shoot. So I got one too. After just under a year of use where I've been happy with it, my screen (it's the only way to see anything as there's no other lens) is now completely blurry with many of the photos taken. blurred. Some others come out fine, but the screen looks like it's obscured by a cloudy fog or an amoeba. . . It's like the chemicals in the screen have gone bad or leaked or something, so it's very hard to see what was recorded or if the recording was even sharp. My guess is that maybe moisture got into the electronics somehow (it's been a rainy year here). They were not left outside and abandoned. My mother always has it in her suitcase. It worked great for the first 8 months, now they are not reliable at all. . . and if there's a 50/50 chance your recording is junk, it's just not worth keeping. I have had several Canon cameras before and have been very happy with them (even used them abroad in a tropical environment). This one definitely gets a thumbs down.

Pros
  • Scene modes such as Fisheye, Toy Camera and Monochrome give you creative freedom when taking photos.
Cons
  • Not as thick as other models
