Review on ๐Ÿฑ K&H Pet Products Outdoor Multi-Cat House Shelter Heated or Unheated by Laura Church

Revainrating 3 out of 5

"Outdoor " A "heated " cat house that is not weatherproof, waterproof, or heated.

I wasn't sure how to rate this as I'm not happy or dissatisfied with this purchase, I'm just disappointed. This is going to be a long review. I purchased this outdoor "heated" cat house from Revain a few days ago for $53.99 before tax and it arrived quickly, in about 2 days. Pretty easy to put together. The walls are connected to each other with velcro and to the roof each with a plastic zipper on the thinner sides and velcro strips on the longer sides, which unfortunately don't cover all the edges, so let some cold air through. print area. While I like the house for its ease of assembly and light weight, and more importantly the cat I bought it for, a stray cat that uses it, it doesn't appear to be insulated and the underfloor heating pad barely gets it warm. When I received it a few days ago, I immediately assembled it quickly (took about 10 minutes) and tested the underfloor heating floor (in my heated apartment) by placing an underlay on it for more than 20 minutes (as recommended in the ). Instructions for use ), and after that I could barely feel any heat with my hand over the center of the pillow, but I could tell that at least it wasn't DOA, so I let the cat use it. He's been using it for 2 days now, the house is in a closed but not insulated and unheated entrance which is quite cold, like a garage, but the temperature stays about 6-10 degrees higher than outside. Temperature. It was very cold yesterday and today, last night was around puberty and the current temperature is around 30 and tonight it has dropped to 20. Every time I checked the pillow I was very disappointed with how little heat it gave off when a cat was sitting on it and how cool it was when the cat wasn't on it. The inside of the house is likely to be as cold/same temperature as the rest of the porch. This winter has been mild for the most part (in NYC), but these few days of such low temperatures have made me concerned about the cat's comfort and convenience. health. I think I could bring this home and instead get a semi-enclosed heated bed to place in a homemade insulated cat house using either a cardboard box or a plastic storage container lined with 1" insulation board. Cut to size. The house will advertised and sold as an 'outdoor' heated cat house which means it must be at least weather and waterproof, but it is not, making the manufacturer guilty of false or misleading advertising. Outdoor house, it must be insulated and be waterproof. This house is not suitable for outdoor use where it may get wet from rain.If left outdoors where exposed to rain, the interior will get wet due to the thin floor fabric absorbing water by soaking of the underfloor heating mat, then the cat/s refuses to use it, as some buyers report. If the cat lies on it, it holds the H off when it rains not warm or dry suitable for indoor use only in a slightly cool or heated area, or on an insulated porch or garage where the temperature is above freezing and not for outdoor use or in an uninsulated and unheated area, because the insulating floor is not enough to warm keep the cat dry and keep it dry when it rains. The 20-watt "heater" is inside (sewn into) most of the floor pillow under a thin layer of Sherpa-like fabric, but it barely "warms" at all. only from this side and only in the middle, which means that this is the place where the door leaves are located and where cold air will flow through the sides of the door leaf. A smaller portion of the flooring is unheated and runs along the smaller side of the house. I redesigned the lot so that the larger part was on a smaller, more enclosed part of the house. There is a slot in the center bottom at the front and back of the house that allows you to insert a heat mat extender so you can change the sides of the mat to your liking like I did. It plugs into a three-prong outlet and has no temperature control. It's almost impossible to tell if it's working, getting warm or not. If you want a pad you can actually feel or one that controls temperature, get a different brand with a higher wattage. Pros: On sale, the price is reasonable: $54 or less for the heated version, $52 for the non-heated version. .Easy assembly according to the supplied instructions, but can also be done without. The assembled house is not heavy, so it is easy to transport. The cabin's walls and roof feel solid, not a polyester-like material that's difficult to clean but can be slightly water-resistant. The underfloor heating pad is about 2.5 cm thick and can be replaced. Provides windbreak for 1 to 3 cats. the price is too high (if it exceeds $54). The house is not insulated or protected from weather and water. The material used for the walls, roof, and floor is not waterproof or water-resistant, although walls and roofs can be waterproof. The bottom is a thin fabric similar to polyester that can absorb water. it comes into contact with it, so it doesn't stay indoors or the floor mat dry when it rains. The heating part of the floor mat does not cover the entire floor of the house, only the large side, but the sides can be switched. The heating floor mat does not have a removable washable cover. To clean, unplug the power cord and use a damp cloth. When switched on, the heating part of the floor mat receives almost no heat when the cat is lying on it and no noticeable heat when it is empty. Doesn't help keep the house warm. And one small complaint - the wall panels could have looked smoother and not as crumpled. (see photos) How can it be improved? By insulating and waterproofing everything (roof, walls and floor) and using a better and larger heating element for the floor. Then it would have deserved 5 stars. After all that, I'm still not sure if I'm going to return it or keep it. If I keep it for myself, I will use another heating element/pad or heat bed for the cat, which will increase the cost of the stray cat rescue house. Attached are 2 photos of a homemade wildcat winter quarters that I made for outdoor wildcats.
