It works when placed and installed securely.
This filter wrench fits a 2010 Toyota Corolla with a black plastic body. This tool has three slots at 180° to each other (so a total of six slots on the tool). If you line up the CENTER slot of the three (on the tool) with the center line (on the body), both sides will align. secure. You can then apply torque to loosen the case.
