It didn't work for me

After reading reviews of similar products and looking for a permanent adhesive with flexibility I unfortunately decided on this product. I tried to tape the excess fabric (1/4" to 3/8") to the inseam of the upholstery for the backs of the dining room chairs I was restoring. The original stock I replaced because it ripped had the insides of the seams sealed with a still tacky adhesive that was 19 years old. I guessed it was glued in such a way that there weren't any lumps along the seam at the very top of the back of the chair where the seam was visible and followed a slightly wavy outline. I have tried, to copy the process with this permanent adhesive. The glue took hours to dry, I had to weigh the material down to keep the stiff padding from floating in the air, but it didn't stay put. The end result was somewhat flexible, but too stiff to follow the contours of the top of the chair back. One of the four chair backs looked odd 3 or 4 inches because of the glue. The other three backs look ok because I didn't use any glue. While this product may work for other purposes, it will not work with the Sunbrella padding I use. It also doesn't appear to be a product that becomes instantly tacky like contact cement. It might work if you glue something that could just lay there and dry if it didn't need to be clamped, but that wasn't that, what I was aiming for. The instructions said to use a thin bead which I tried and even tried using a small clamp but even after it dried it wasn't strong enough. to hold the rigid material to be bent. Using more material took longer to dry and made it less flexible. Maybe it will work on something like t-shirt material or something.

Pros
  • Kraft
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
